Australian artist, Lucy Watts, grew up in coastal Sydney. After completing a degree in communications and working in the conference research industry, her life took a new direction when she married a grazier and moved to a rural property on the outskirts of the central western NSW town of Dunedoo.
There Lucy spent several years working in event and conference organisation in the nearby wine region of Mudgee. Later she worked for Cudgegong Gallery in the historic town of Gulgong, managing publicity and curating art exhibitions.
Having always had a strong interest in creating artworks herself, it was not until after the arrival of her first child in 2001 that she was able to pursue this enthusiasm with vigour.
The ever-changing rural landscape that surrounds Lucy and movement in life itself provide inspiration for her creations. "Everywhere I turn there are endless opportunities to create a moment of stillness from the energy and beauty of life."
